The arts, creativity, and teaching have been part of my path.

My first experiences working with clay as a child  were at a local community center; then with an
exceptional high school art teacher, Mrs. Rogers.

At the University of Texas, I focused on painting, ceramics and art education; I remember carrying 25 pounds of clay in my back pack from Armadillo Clay to the UT studio.  Yes, Austin was a fun town.   Being part of the first cohort of art teachers in Round Rock Public Schools was an exciting first teaching experience.

Next, teaching art for Columbus City Schools,  and Saturday school at Columbus College of Art and Design. Then earning a masters degree at Ohio State to be a school library media specialist, which was perfect preparation to be an "Arts Enhancer", in Waverly, Michigan, integrating art with the middle school curriculum.

As my husband worked on a post-doc at the Carnegie Institution at Stanford, I worked as a part time nanny in exchange for a cottage on a vineyard, providing our new born son with his first buddies.

When our son was in preschool, in Lexington, Kentucky, I ran an after school care business with a focus on crafts and outdoor fun,  and later began work as a school library media specialist K-5.

After moving to Massachusetts, I continued working as a school library media specialist and then as an art teacher.  In 2014, while working at Prospect Hill Academy in Somerville, I discovered Mudflat Studio.

Mudflat Studio is a fabulous community with a great facility, resident artists, students of all levels, and dedicated teachers.   Here I rekindled my passion for clay.     https://mudflat.org/

In the last few years, I have taught art and ceramics at several community centers, worked a few days a week  substitute teaching and dedicated more time to ceramics in my basement studio, and at Mudflats.

In my spare time I cook, play, garden, take walks and volunteer.
